HPV Prevention and Control Board Meeting, 15-16 May 2018, Bucharest, Romania

 

The role of Health Care Providers in HPV vaccination and screening programme implementation; Prevention and control of HPV and HPV related cancers in Romania.  

 

 

 

WHCA gave a presentation on “10 tips to supporting Health Care Provider HPV related communications with media “; and produced a series of short videos on key messages from presenters [see www.hpvboard.org]  

 

Background: The HPV Prevention & Control Board brings together the immunization, screening, clinical, health economics and academic key experts, as well as patient/advocacy groups and government officials in countries/regions so that they could present their data and discuss programmes, strategies, successes and problems. Board members use their experience to give advice on how challenges might be addressed. Lessons learnt are collected and disseminated via the web site www.hpvboard.org, a meeting report and possibly via a publication in a peer reviewed journal.

Objectives of the meeting:

  1. Provide an overview of the role of the health care provider (HCP) in the vaccination programme, with a focus on HPV vaccination
  2. Discuss the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats for HCP in different vaccination programmes, e.g. school based, GP driven and vaccination clinics.
  3. Provide an overview of different information and trainings materials available for HCP at various international organisations (CDC, ECDC, WHO, …)
  4. Discuss country examples where HCP play an important role in the implementation and coverage of HPV vaccination and screening.
  5. Propose strategies to enhance the impact of HCP towards better screening and vaccination coverage.
  6. Discuss Romanian challenges, analysis of previous introduction, ways to address the issues and opportunities in prevention and control of HPV and HPV related cancers.
